Partying it up in college. Drinking at the bars after work. Going to restaurants for dinner. Movies and popcorn. Random shopping trips. Those were the things of the past. Things before marriage. Things before a house. Things before C. And, yes, I am ok with that because I love to spend time at home and enjoy "date" night with the hubs.
Our date nights usually start when C goes to bed which is around 7:00. The hubs will work hard in the kitchen and make us dinner. There is always something new and tasty on the menu, like pizza and chicken wings, some tasty Indian food, or some pasta and breadsticks. After dinner is cooked we will sit on the couch and enjoy our feast while watching a movie through Netflix or Amazon and spend time together. We love to wrap up in a nice cozy blanket to cuddle on the couch.
Once C was born, our lives didn't change much. Ever since we purchased our house in 2006 (at the peak of the housing market, blah), we started staying in more and more. We spent more time at home experiencing with new recipes, spending time together, and being in the comfort of our new home. And why not?! It was cheaper. It was more relaxing. No annoying waitress bothering you. The food tasted better. We didn't have to go anywhere. We were home and enjoying our "date."
Now, that C is a little older and is able to fall asleep on his own and stay asleep (most nights), some friends have offered to babysit C while the hubs and I went out on a real date. We are looking forward to spending time together outside of our house. One of these days it will happen.
